Meet Sarah: A Working Parent's Energy Bill Nightmare
Sarah Thompson, a working mother of two from Melbourne's outer suburbs, was, like many Australians, completely overwhelmed by her rising energy costs. Between juggling her part-time job, school runs, and household management, the last thing she had time for was researching energy providers.
"Every quarter, I'd open my electricity bill and just cringe," Sarah recalls. "The amounts kept getting higher, but I had no idea where to even start with comparing providers."
Sarah's quarterly electricity bills had crept up to around $450, while her gas was hitting $180 every three months. Like many busy Australians, she kept promising herself she'd "get around to" comparing energy deals, but months turned into years without action.
